For residential parking, the following rules apply:
- Parking is allowed for up to seven consecutive days within the area covered by the permit. However, be mindful of any scheduled street cleaning days.
- The permit is valid based on availability.
- The permit does not grant the right to park in areas where general prohibitions apply or where other regulations are in effect and signposted.
- The permit is non-transferable.

Application step by step
- Go to “Other” at the bottom right of the app.
- Click on “Permits.”
- Click on “Apply for a permit.”
- Select “Borås Resident.”
- Then choose the license plate of the car you want to apply for a residential parking permit for.
- Click on “Apply.”
- When you see that your permit has been approved, you need to click on “Pay for permit” for it to be valid. A tip is also to check “Renew permit automatically.” This way, you won’t have to apply for a new permit every month, and it will continue until you choose to cancel it.

Can I purchase a residential parking permit?
You can purchase a residential parking permit if you are registered as a resident at an address in one of the areas where residential parking applies: Villastaden, Lugnet, Östermalm, or Salängen. Additionally, you must be listed as the owner of the vehicle in the Swedish vehicle registry.
How much does residential parking cost?
A residential parking permit costs 225 SEK for a 30-day period.
Are all vehicles eligible?
You must be the registered owner in the Swedish vehicle register for the vehicle you are applying for.
The following vehicles are not eligible for a residential parking permit:
- Truck (Heavy, Light)
- Bus (Heavy, Light)
- Tractor
- Motorcycle
- Moped
- Motorhome (Passenger car class 2)
- Trailer
- Motorized equipment
- Vehicles over 3.5 tons
- Rental car

Can I park in all four residential parking areas with my permit?
No, you can only park in the area where you reside. The area is specified on your permit. For example, if you live in Villastaden, you can only park in the spots designated for residential parking within Villastaden.

Note that your permit is only valid in one of the areas and not where general prohibitions apply or where other regulations are in place and signposted.

How long can I park in the same spot?
You can park for up to seven consecutive days in designated spots within each area.
Am I guaranteed a parking space once I purchase a residential parking permit?
No, a residential parking permit is only valid if there is available space.
Can I purchase multiple residential parking permits?
You can purchase one permit per person and a maximum of two per household.
Can I get a residential parking permit if I have a company car?
Yes, but you will need to submit a manual application along with a certificate from your employer. This should be sent by email to parkering@boras.se. A new application must be submitted once per year. Processing a complete application may take 3-4 days, so be sure to apply in time.
Is it only those with residential parking permits who can park in the areas where the permit applies?
No, visitors can also park in the area on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and on the day before Sundays and public holidays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. As a visitor, you can park for a maximum of two consecutive hours during these times.
