Common reasons for disputes
Here you can read about common situations that may lead to a control fee (Kontrollavgift) being issued, but where the reasons are not sufficent to remove the payment obligation.
You paid for parking but entered the wrong license plate number or area code.
As the driver of the vehicle, you are responsible for registering the correct vehicle in the parking app, parking meter or via SMS parking. Even if you can later prove that you paid for parking, the payment obligation cannot be removed if you accidentally entered the wrong license plate number. Similarly, you cannot have the fee waived if you mistakenly entered or selected the wrong parking area.
You have a permit, but it was not visible in the windshield.
The parking attendant must be able to easily and clearly see that the conditions for parking at the location are met. If a permit is required, the attendant must be able to see that you have a valid permit for that location. If you show your permit afterward, but it was not clearly visible when the parking attendant was at the location, this is not a valid reason for removing the payment obligation for the control fee.
You didn’t see the sign.
When you stop or park a vehicle, it is your responsibility to ensure that you follow the rules and conditions in place. This responsibility includes checking signs and being well-informed about the parking regulations that apply.
